Light Up Lexington, Lexington Market, 5-9pm

FREE Entry, $10 (and under) dishes, $4 brew

We’re in the season of changes and there’s no doubt Lexington Market, one of Baltimore’s oldest landmarks, is gearing up for some great things in its (hopefully soon) future. And this evening, you can forget what you have to cook for dinner and head west side for a unique collaborative chef cook-off, where you’ll be the judge. The Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment District, Baltimore Public Markets Corp., and Dooby’s have partnered up to present “Light Up Lexington” -a culinary experiment pairing up several local chefs and vendors. It’ll include great restaurants: Alewife, The Charmery, Hersh’s, Blue Pit BBQ, Farmstead Grill, Clementine, and Dooby’s with great vendors at the market: Faidley’s, Park’s Hamburgers, Italian Stallion, Paul’s BBQ, Berger Cookie, Mexican Delight, Healthy Choice, Station Deli, Andy’s Best, and Honolulu. And to get it all down, Union Craft Brewing and Brewer’s Art will be serving up some $4 drinks.

On top of that, local musical talents will be filling the evening with some great sounds to dance to among the featured art and light installations. Rapper artist Abdu Ali will be live on the ones and twos. The evening will also feature known soul man Brooks Long & The Mad Dog No Good, and KERQ (the Kevin Robinson Quintet).

Treason Toting Co. One Year Anniversary Party, Union Craft Brewing, 7pm-midnight

FREE Entry, cash bar, food by Bistro Lunch Box

Being able to not only say you started your business from the ground up in your hometown, but it has also remained in your hometown and expanded its success beyond it, is quite the accomplishment. And for one crafty duo, it’s definitely worth celebrating.

Both Jason Bass and Aaron Jones, owners and makers of Treason Toting Co. have come a long way in their journey, and are celebrating their one year anniversary of the entrepreneurial journey in this industry at Union Craft Brewing, this evening. A free event, you get to meet the team and, of course, party. It is a celebration, after all!

Many have definitely kept watch of the Treason brand, including visual storytellers,, who have documented their journey in a new series of cool things being made, right here, in Charm City. That film will premiere at the event. Check out the teaser, above.

“Block Stitch” at School 33, School 33 Art Center, Friday 6-9pm

FREE Event, selected works available for sale

“Block Stitch,” curated by Ashley Molese, is an exhibition featuring film, photography and projection that “looks at the intersection of geography and self-representation in different Baltimore neighborhoods, and presents a series of intimate portraits, autobiographical observations, and vignettes of the myriad ways individuals contribute to the vernacular fabric of Baltimore.” The installation includes work from Tiffany Jones, Crystal Star Whitman, Frédéric Nauczyciel, Neil C. Jones, Zhenia Bulawka, and yes, me, Olivia Obineme.

It’s truly an honor when I was asked to feature some work in this exhibition, and with everyone’s work in the gallery, it should definitely be a great art experience. The fellow featured artists are beyond talented and after getting a preview of their installations, you’re sure in for a treat.

Pssst…my installation requires some audience participation, showcasing individual style (wink, wink), so yes, dress code is to be you! Hoping you all will be able to make it!
