Editor’s Picks: Events of the Week
October is sure to be filled with some great events happening in Charm City. Here’s a few that are going on this week.
CoHosts: Sanford Biggers & Gallery Four, Baltimore School for the Arts, 6-8:30pm
On behalf of Gallery Four, The Contemporary welcomes LA native/NY transplant and artist Sanford Biggers as guest speaker for TC’s “Cohosts” series. Join the nomadic museum for light refreshments, mingling, talks, and a Q&A with Biggers and Gallery Four at the Baltimore School for the Arts. As always, it’s a free event, so you don’t want to miss out on some art enlightenment.
Alloverstreet October: The Biggest and Best Yet!!!, East Oliver Street, 7-10pm
With 10 exhibitions and events spanning 9 art spaces, this month’s artwalk hosted by Alloverstreet is its biggest installment to date. Start out at Area 405 for food, music and information (pick up a tour map!) on the night’s activities. Participating art spaces include: Area 405, Bogeda Gallery, Gallery CA, Lil’ Gallery, Lil’ Hallway, Springsteen Gallery, Terrault Contemporary, and Penthouse Gallery. Plus, from 8-10pm, enjoy a free ride from Alloverstreet to the Idling @ Dusk event at Penn Station in a designated taxi cab! All of this is free. How awesome is that?
Whitelock Harvest Festival and Greens Cook Off, Whitelock Community Farm, noon-6pm
It’s Reservoir Hill’s annual free fall harvest festival! Join the neighborhood’s Whitelock Community Farm for tours of the farm, music, vendors, and kids activities. Plus, are you a ‘green’ chef? Enter your best green dish in the Greens Cook-Off. Prizes include $100 in cash, brunch at a local restaurant, and a $25 coupon to the Farm Stand. Email Whitelock Farm to register.
